Learning Outcomes and Application This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to respond to incidents of a critical nature that may impact on the operations of power generation plant or its' system, endanger human life or property or have an adverse impact on the environment.A critical incident refers to an event that may result in a high level of risk, directly or indirectly to the core operations of a power generation facility. The levelof risk is determined using the facility's risk management processes as outlined in the Risk Management System.Competency in this unit requires the ability toidentify critical incident and consequences, establish contingency plan, establish communications,coordinate response to a critical incident and the documentation of the incident and response. Individuals will, in general, work as an operator with responsibility for coordinating critical incident responses and/or risk management, in a power generation facility. Power generation plant operators are typically trained and authorised to isolate, prepare plant and issue permits to work.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.Note: Workplace practiceThe application of the skills and knowledge described in this unit may require a licence or training permit to practice in the workplace where work is carried out on gas and electrical installations. Additional conditions may apply under state and territory legislative and regulatory licensing requirements.
